Each week in the NFL brings surprises. For fantasy football, the challenge is knowing which players you can actually trust. Here are some things that could easily happen this week, so don’t be shocked if they do.
Quarterbacks
-
Trevor Lawrence (Jaguars) and Bryce Young (Panthers) could both finish as top-10 fantasy QBs.
-
Lawrence has been a solid fantasy QB in the past, and with new weapons (like WR Travis Hunter) and better coaching, he has a good matchup this week.
-
Young started running more late last season, scoring 5 rushing TDs in 6 games, which boosted his fantasy value. If he keeps it up, he’ll be a sleeper pick.
-
-
Other QBs to watch:
-
Drake Maye (Patriots) has more help around him now and should look better.
-
Caleb Williams (Bears) might struggle against the Vikings’ defense but is still a great long-term fantasy option.
-
Matthew Stafford (Rams) is back, but keep an eye on backup Jimmy Garoppolo just in case Stafford gets hurt again.
-
Running Backs
-
Austin Ekeler (Commanders) could be the main RB to trust.
-
Washington didn’t use him enough last year, but he’s efficient and can play all three downs.
-
Rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt might not get as much work as people think, so Ekeler is safer.
-
Ekeler has done well against the Giants before and should get plenty of touches.
-
-
Other RB notes:
-
Ollie Gordon II (Dolphins) could see a lot of action if De’Von Achane is limited.
-
Najee Harris (Chargers) should still get carries despite rookie Omarion Hampton being around.
-
TreVeyon Henderson (Patriots) might surprise and take touches away from Rhamondre Stevenson.
-
Jerome Ford (Browns) is underrated and should get chances even with rookie Quinshon Judkins around.
-
Wide Receivers
-
Jakobi Meyers (Raiders) could score 20+ fantasy points.
-
He quietly had his best season last year (87 catches, 1,027 yards).
-
Even though he asked for a trade, he didn’t cause drama, and now Amari Cooper has retired, leaving Meyers as a main target.
-
He faces his old team (Patriots) this week, which adds motivation.
-
-
Other WR notes:
-
Tyreek Hill (Dolphins) should still be trusted — don’t bench him just because of injury talk.
-
Browns WRs Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman could both have big games with Joe Flacco starting.
-
Adam Thielen (Vikings) should be solid until Jordan Addison returns from suspension.
-
Chris Olave (Saints) is risky long-term but fine to start this week since he’s healthy.
